- PRE PURCHASE SURVEY: Marine Surveys are performed for many reasons with the most common being a pre-purchase survey. It is conducted when purchasing a new or used vessel. It is highly recommended that the buyer be present for the survey. This is the most comprehensive survey performed. It will be conducted including the operations of all the systems. We analyze the structures of the main components, deck, house, bottom and internal structure integrity as well. The electrical systems, propulsion systems, fuel systems, navigational equipment, waste system, galley equipment and more. A very comprehensive and extensive sea trial will also be included. Lastly there will be an estimate of the fair market value of the vessel.
- CONDITION AND VALUATION SURVEY: This is most often requested by the boat owner for the purpose of financing or re-financing of the vessel and also for renewal of an insurance policy. It will establish the current maintenance level and the fair market value.
- APPRAISED SURVEY: This is conducted to establish value for an estate settlement, donations, or any other reason to establish the current fair market valuation.
- DAMAGE SURVEY: These are usually assigned by an insurance company after a claim has been submitted. They include a physical inspection of the damaged vessel and an estimate for the repair as well. The owner of the vessel may also hire an independent surveyor to access the damage in the case of a dispute with the insurance company.
